If the movies say it, it must be true!

Every so often, we all feel that urge. You know what I'm talking about. When you get a beat in your head, your foot starts tapping, your head starts bopping, your booty starts shaking, and the lyrics just come pouring out of your mouth. Well, maybe you don't have that feeling all that often. After all, bursting into song in broad daylight, surrounded by a bunch of people who don't know you won't accomplish anything other than the receiving of dirty looks. But, if you do suddenly find the power of the music in you, let it loose. Something magical will happen. Music is a mystical thing, and impulsively bursting into song awakens this mysticism. Sing, and you will find yourself in weird and magical worlds. Take, for example, Moulin Rouge. As Christian hits the really epic part of "Your Song", he and Satine are whisked away, riding stars and dancing on clouds. In Rent, Mark and Joanne bond over their shared disdain for Maureen's ways, and suddenly find themselves in the midst of ballroom, doing a sexy tango. In Chicago, every number that Roxie, Velma, or Billy belt out transports them onto the stage, bedecked in sparkles and spazz!



The Lesson: The power of music is unbeatable thing. Let it consume you, and you will be taking on a wonderful journey. Just make sure everyone around you is cool with it, cuz otherwise it'll end up like that scene from Sweeney Todd where Johnny Depp makes a complete fool of himself in front of Helena Bonham Carter. Just sayin'...

Ok, so. I can't be bothered to come up with funny lines for every single screen grab that I get my hands on, so I'm going to take a leaf of advice form Castor and change up CC. It is now interactive, a game, if you will. Every week, I'll post a picture, and then you, the loyal reader, will sound off in the comments with your witty phrase. The winner will be announced the following week, with their phrase proudly etched into the picture. I'll make a leader board. You'll fight tooth and nail to get on it. It'll be spectacular! Ok then. This past week, I strolled down to my mailbox in the Campus Center here on Bard Campus. After getting it open, I happened upon a little something-something from a certain someone-someone. Hatter had alluded to a gift of sorts that would be finding its way to me at some point as a thank you for putting up with a Matineecast recording session mired by technical issues up the wazoo. Unfortunately, Hatter's big move to a stylish new crib postponed the mailing of said gift, and, since its college, and I was in a show, and I have work, and I'm busy, and I'm tired, and I have a social life outside of this blog (crazy, right?), I briefly forgot about the incoming present. So, imagine my surprise when I found a nice little package sitting in my box, from a certain mad person. What was it you ask?

SAWEEEEEEEET!!!! I was very excited about that. Not only am I now privy to all the juicy extras, but now I can watch it legally!! YAY!!! Thanks Hatter. You da man!!! Here's a special furry just for you!!! This is a bunny!

How Wonderful Life Is Now You're In The World

Let's talk about musicals! They are cruel little mistresses, aren't they? I mean cruel in the sense that they only appeal to a very certain demographic! No, not just gay men! Shut up! If you're not in that musical demographic, you traditionally want nothing to do with singing and dancing and general revelry, like my dad! Now, I'm am one of those types who loves, and I mean LOVES, musicals! I have a ton of soundtracks, try and see one whenever I go into NYC, and am currently in rehearsals for one at school! So, of course I was going to love Moulin Rouge going in! The thing is, though, everyone else will too, because Moulin Rogue is a mad crazy brilliant piece of work! Visually astounding, very well written, sharply directed, impeccably realized, with some great music to boot! This is a musical to get people into musicals!
